Cato Institute Policy Expert Analyzes Deal Commission Recommendations

Yesterday, Governor Deal's Education Reform Commission heard the recommendations of the Educational Options / School Choice Subcommittee, which did NOT recommend a cap increase for the existing program and recommended a new means-tested program that mandates standardized testing and private school reporting.

The Cato Institute's Jason Bedrick has posted an article that skillfully takes issue with the Subcommittee's recommendations: http://www.cato.org/blog/solution-search-problem.

For the sound reasons set forth in Jason Bedrick’s article, Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program supporters are urging their legislators to reject the recommendations before Governor Deal's Education Reform Commission pertaining to the creation of a new means-tested, highly regulated tax credit scholarship program and to support a significant cap increase to the existing program, in which thousands of scholarship families and taxpayers enthusiastically participate.
